Holidays..I love em!

So I have to say that my Christmas was the best EVER! As you all know, some of my family from MO drove down to spend it with us.  The only thing that could have made it better was if Heather and Melvin, and Ches, could have made it. Heather couldn't get off work and Melvin and Ches....welll....no comment. ;)

So my poor Dad got a speeding ticket, ran into a bad wreck that added 2 hours to the drive down and lost a weight on a wheel so now he has a warped rotor. NOT FUN! He drove straight through on the way home (20 hours).

We went to visit my Grandma's sister in SoCal and that was nice. It was fun playing the ABC game on the way back. That night we went to Parrish's Bar and Grill and the girls did karaoke with me! It was their first time ever! Even Grandma enjoyed that night!
Oh Grandma....she complains SO MUCH. It was kinda funny that the first evening they were here we went to a "Haunted Holiday" house. She WASN'T happy! Bitch Bitch Bitch. We pulled a couple pranks on her just for kicks. You had to do something not to let her make ya crazy!

We also went to Mexico one day. That was very very fun! My Dad, Reanna and I got sombreros! Malayla got a fantastic purse and my G'Ma picked up a pretty blanket and glass figurine. I was the negotiator for prices and think we came out ok! At one point, we decided to get some chips and salsa and sit and listen to the music at one little outdoor area. All us ladies had Margaritas and Dad enjoyed a couple Coronas. The convo was nice.

I think we all had a great time and I know Jeremy really enjoyed our hike. He and G'Ma also sat and chatted a while one night and that has become entertaining stories! Somethin about my G'Ma hated this dog that always SCREWED a blanket!!!!!!! Hahhahahha

I was sad to see my Dad and the girls go. I really love and miss my family. I am reminded of how much they add to my happiness and the feeling of being fulfilled. I think I'm getting kinda lonely out here. I wish Heather or Sam lived close! That'd help! There are just some people (not many for me) that really understand me. Flaws and all! And they love my little quirks. I love those people. I feel open and honest with them and when you don't connect that way with many people, you kinda get lonely when you go so long with out them!
I wish Roo lived closer too. She's very special.

So New Years Eve is TODAY! We have awesome plans and I expect we'll be having a great time tonight! Jason is here visiting Jeremy and he's always fun to be around!
I'm sure I'll be letting you all know how it goes!!!!

I have thoughts about the new year....I'll post on that later. :)

I hope you all have a great night and are excited for next year! Remember, you have everything you to be happy inside you. Everything! It's all there! So make this a wonderful year.

P.S. My Dad wore a wig I dug out of some costume stuff I had...it was way funny! He's so goofy!

Grattitude

I know you're not supposed to do something nice for someone just for there thanks. But why does it hurt my feelings then? I went out of my way to do something that took time, money and thoughtfulness...and not for nothing! I did it for her! So why do I feel like I need a thank you?

No, I don't need it. I am grateful to be able to do what I did.

:)

That's what I'll keep telling myself!!!

some Newspapers are commiting suicide and they don't even know it

Warning!!! I'm gonna vent...

I was just giving a presentation to a paper and discovered that they stopped putting up full stories on their website.
They began an E-Edition, meaning there is a pdf of the actually print newspaper that they have to pay to see. They have NO other option regarding local news. It's the whole pay for content thing that the newspaper industry has been arguing about for a few years now.

There is a ton of proof that if you give the people what they want, they will come to you and you profit by having there loyal attention! Newspapers NEVER got rich from charging for there content. The ONLY reason there is a cost for the paper is to cover the cost of getting it to you. The paper, ink, machines, people who create it...all comes from ADVERTISING! If you make the people find local news from another source, they will leave you. God knows someone will give it to them for free so don't kid yourself that you will be able to pay your bills off of E-Edition subscriptions!

It's not hard to understand....you make money off of getting lots of consistent traffic to your site, i.e. MySpace, Facebook, GOOGLE...all FREE services. They are RICH and believe in a free society meaning, give the content and service for free than charge advertisers to reach that audience!

The newspaper has always and still does have a very valuable audience! They are typically employed, educated, make above avg income and live within the community!

So charge for the audience, NOT the content.

Shit!

I heart my iPhone

This is VERY Sweet! Another reason why I love Mac...always thinking of what's REALLY important.

Coffee- I Love It, I Love It, I Love It!

Smells soooo goooood on Monday mornings!

I like this too:
The morning cup of coffee has an exhilaration about it which the cheering influence of the afternoon or evening cup of tea cannot be expected to reproduce.

Namaste

Mohandas K. Gandhi:
Namaste. I honour the place in your where the entire universe resides... a place of light, of love, of truth, of peace, of wisdom. I honour the place in you where when you are in that place and I am in that place there is only one of us.

Google Namaste...there are some great stories and definitions associated with this wonderful word.

No ambition...no dreams...

What's up with all these people that have no desire to do or be anything?! Don't they realize that life is short and you can't go back? There are a million things I want to see, do and experience in this life and I know I'll run out of time.

I do understand "stopping to smell the roses"  or thinking in a practical manner but that doesn't mean to not dream and try for more. I think some people never had it in them. OR somewhere along the road they were forced or taught not to dream and strive for all you can.
The Marine Corps for example: I Believe (just MY opinion) that in boot camp maybe, or as you are becoming a "Marine" they make your little boy, whimsical way of thinking seem unimportant and it dies! They wanna break you down and build you back up how THEY want you. That part of your care-free way of thinking is something to be desired! I understand that in order to have a successful military they need structure and down to earth people who will follow the rules. But you can still Color OUTSIDE of the Lines!

I guess it matters how dreaming and speculating about the "what ifs" effects you and your family. I like to wonder about what's next but I do it in a positive manner. I'm excited and happy for whatever the future holds for me! I know myself and I know all will be good! If your dwell on all that could go wrong, maybe you shouldn't....

That's my rant for now :-)

Yeah...why not?!

People/Trust (don't go together most of the time)

Sometimes I feel like I have no one to talk to. I feel like no one would understand. That's when I really feel alone. When the issue is so big or so sacred that I have no body I can talk to for fear of judgment or them just not understanding.
I guess It's cause it's so hard to trust. And you never really know people. Sometimes ya think ya do and then....well you find out you didn't!  It's kinda crummy.

But that's part of life! :)

Fuel line broke on Roxy while I was out shopping! I'm so glad I noticed and took her right home! It's an easy fix. Denny and Jeremy are already working on it. Poor girl!
I'm driving Roxy, my RX-7, today! It's pretty wonderful. I'm so glad I didn't sell her. Woot woot!:)

I have to laugh at the start of the day and I'm thankful!

Jeremy's sister and bro in law finally got in last night. I was getting worried! I guess they got lost and wrote down Jeremys number wrong! They had to call a friend to go check their computer for the correct info. They said they almost gave up and got a hotel! I would have been SO worried!

But all is good! This morning I woke to find a dog or two (they brought 2 and we're doggy sitting Maggie) peed in the living room. I found THREE spots..... And then all for of us were in the kitchen trying to decided which is the best way to season/baste/cook the damn turkey! I had to laugh to myself...Also, Denny couldn't find his bottom teeth and thought maybe Willy took em off his night stand. Jeremy thought maybe Maggie did since she likes to hide stuff! We searched all over to no avail until Denny remembered he put them on the top shelf in the bath room! LOL

Elaine and Bobby are on there way over! I'm excited to see her (them)! It's a great day in the Vaughan household! Oh yeah...that reminds me: My Dad still misspells my last name. He keeps forgetting the extra a. Lol

k! Bye for now! :-)

I'm sick at my stomach

So I've been looking up blogs and follow some. I wanted to get a feel for what others do that don't "professionly" blog. I ran across my co-workers blog that is open to the public.

As I'm reading and laughing at most of what she says, I run across this:
http://michnich.tumblr.com/page/3  (I copied what was on the site pertaining to me below)

Jan 5th reads…

Dumb bitch from work

Who says, “funny how I’m always right” apparently got married over the weekend.  She’s 27.  Already been married and divorced once.  Hasn’t actually engaged the second time around.  So we all think she got knocked up.  Would love to post the picture of her but I’m not sure if that’s legal.  But she looks like white trash in the picture.

Jan 12th reads...

Why don't people understand

the difference between “Reply” and “Reply All”???
It drives me crazy.  YOU WORK IN THE FUCKING INTERNET DEPARTMENT!  Please learn the difference so I don’t have to read your responses that are completely irrelevant to me!  Also, do you put in your e-mails, “Funny how I’m always right” if you’re rarely correct about anything.  You make up contracts, put fake amounts down, make up terms, and forge publishers signatures!!!
I’m so glad I work from home and don’t have to interact with certain people.
I would be jobless at best, but most likely in jail.

I Am Grateful for Family!

It's the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and today I feel grateful. I am excited for Jeremy's sister and brother in law to get here, for one. I am also happy that I'm getting somewhat comfortable with spending the Holidays away. I get a little less lonely as the days go by. At one point, I thought I'd HAVE to make it home for every holiday (and some birthdays) as I couldn't imagine not sharing those moments w/everyone! It's impossible, now I know.
So, that just means inviting our family to come to us! And they are and I'm so incredibly grateful. It also means I can't take our time together for granted. These are the times that makes life so precious and wonderful. Spending time with my family is like soul food!!!!!!!

This is my 1st post on the blog and I feel a very fitting one!
One of my favorite quotes sums it up:

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.
Denis Waitley

So let me know what about your family makes you grateful! I know at times this make take a minute to come up with something ;) but even at those times, there is something.
